DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Another vacant house fire challenged crews who spent hours trying to save the home. It happened near Prairie and Illinois.
Investigators are trying to determine a cause. Authorities say the home was vacant, but neighbors say there may have been someone sleeping in the home at times. Crews arrived sometime after 1 pm.
When they got there, they could see smoke and flames coming from the home. They had to cut the roof open to get to the smoke and flames and check for victims.
The fire is under investigation. It’s considered a total loss, but a damage estimate was not available.
