CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — At a special membership meeting held March 13, 2018, members of Carle Employees Federal Credit Union (Carle CU) voted to merge with the University of Illinois Community Credit Union (UICCU).

The merger is scheduled to take place May 1. Carle CU has been serving its 2,700 members since 1965 and has more than $16 million in assets.

“As many things as we can keep the same, we’ll keep the same. Some things will change as far as with the accounts and so on. We’re communicating that. Letters have started going out in the last couple of days. We’re going to try to over communicate and if there are any questions we’re here to answer those,”says UICCU Sr. Vice President: Greg Anderson.

UICCU has more than $328 million in assets and serves more than 45,000 members. UICCU offered Carle CU employees positions following the merger.

UICCU is a non-profit, member-owned cooperative providing a wide range of financial products and services to anyone who lives or works in Champaign, Ford, Piatt, Douglas, Vermilion, Coles, DeWitt, Edgar, Iroquois, Moultrie, and Sangamon counties, as well as University of Illinois’ employees and other select employee groups.

UICCU was named one of the 2017 Best Places to Work in Illinois.
