LODA, Ill. (WCIA) – A crash involving a van and semi truck shut down part of Interstate 57 for 5 hours.
It happened near milepost 267, southbound, near Loda. Traffic was backed up for several miles leading up to the crash.
Illinois State Police say a semi truck and a van were driving south, when the semi truck crashed into the back of the van.
That caused the van to cross into the northbound lanes, where it flipped over and caught fire.
Four people were inside, and all of them were taken to the hospital.
The driver was not seriously hurt, but the three others inside were.
Both northbound and southbound lanes were shut down for 5 hours.
The driver of the semi was given a ticket for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
