URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Troopers shut down part of I-74 down when a semi truck carrying cattle tipped over.
It happened around 4:30 pm, Sunday, at milepost 186.5, in the westbound lanes.
About 100 cows were on board. Two or three got loose and had to be herded back. People herding the cows eventually had to use tranquilizer darts.
It also caused a secondary crash between three cars. State police say two people were hurt, but did not have serious injuries.
Illinois State Police say I-74 traffic is being diverted westbound at exit 192, onto U.S. Route 150. It will be shut down throughout the night as crews try to clean up and herd the cows.
