VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — The couple charged with killing a mother of three and shooting the father appeared in court Wednesday morning.

Laura Johnson, 31, and Mike Long, 26, are accused of first degree murder, armed robbery and aggravated battery with a firearm in the shooting death of 31-year old Kimberly George and the shooting of Eric Stark. Stark survived after undergoing surgery for his injuries.

Johnson is being held on $3 million bond and Long is being held on $5 million. After the judge read the couple the charges against them, the pair kissed before they were taken away by officers. They appeared remotely via video from the PSB.

Both pleaded not guilty. Authorities have not released a motive for the shootings, but say the victims and suspects knew each other.

The shooting happened about 6 am, at George and Stark’s home on Mill Road, in Georgetown.
