CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Changes are coming to the liquor code. The city council voted Tuesday night to allow “wine walks” as early as this summer.
Community stakeholders pushed for the idea because of the response they have in larger cities. The walk allows people to travel from store to store sampling alcohol.
Some in the community say it’s a great idea.
“Downtown’s always been fun and I think that’s another aspect we can add to it being able to walk with your drink is something that’ll be fun for downtown especially young people like me,” Christopher Echols says.
As soon as the council bill is signed it will go into effect.
