HOOPESTON, Ill. (WCIA) — A long-standing company is leaving Central Illinois.
Schumacher Electric Company is closing its doors. The move will impact 30 workers who will get the chance to move to Texas, instead.
The company released the following statement:
Over the past 71 years, the Schumacher family has been required to make a lot of tough decisions to ensure the company can withstand the changing times and stay successful in business. Most recently, Schumacher reviewed its United States distribution to ensure we had the most effective and efficient system for the company and its customers. During that review, we determined that one centralized distribution model made the most sense. As such, after 55 years, and a lot of thought and consideration, Schumacher has decided to close its Hoopeston, Illinois distribution facility. While we are closing the facility, we have offered all of our employees to stay on with the company at our new location in Texas.
