DWIGHT, Ill. (WCIA) — Town leaders are considering whether to approve building a federal detention facility for undocumented immigrants.

Many showed up to tell the planning commission what they thought just before people from all over the state showed up to protest it saying the facility is wrong both ethically and morally.

The lawyer representing Immigration Centers of America spoke on the issue. He says, ten years ago, Congress tried to find a better way to house immigrants trying to find a better life.

Because of this, the detention center was born as an upgrade from a county jail.
