ARCOLA, Ill. (WCIA) — A community center is nearly set to open its doors, but it’s in need of some final touches.
The Arcola Masonic Community Center has used only donations to get off the ground.
People in Arcola say they needed another space in town for special occasions, events and meetings.
The center costs $900,000 and they still need another $25,000 to finish the project.
“If we can get some more financial help we can buy the other amenities we need. The building itself is complete. It’s just the bolt-on items that we need: freezer, refrigerator, commercial equipment to finish the kitchen. It’s the biggest thing,” says Masonic Lodge Master Gary Doemelt.
Anyone who contributes a significant donation gets a lifetime plaque inside the community center.
