CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The third annual Coffee with a Cop Day is right around the corner.
Officers with the Champaign Police Department invite people to come ask questions, voice concerns or just get to know one another better.
Authorities realize most of the contact the public has with police happens during emergency or high-stress situations. This event provides a more relaxed setting in which to communicate with law enforcement officers.
Coffee is complementary for those participating. Coffee with a Cop is a nationally recognized initiative supported by The United States Department of Justice, Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.
Events are held across the country, with the goal of advancing the practice of community policing.
