City supports tax credits for local plant

Local News

DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — The gas industry is big business, but one community says more can be done to help one of its companies.

The city is standing with REG. The biodiesel production plant has a local facility.

They say the nation has dedicated more than $1 billion to importing foreign oil which is hurting domestic production and costing thousands of jobs.

They want Congress to give domestic facilities tax credits, instead of spending it overseas. Mayor Scott Eisenhauer says it wouldn’t just be a win for the plant.

REG produces 45-million gallons of biodiesel a year. It’s the largest producer of advanced biofuel in the nation.
