MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — The firefighter’s union says the city is suing it over the removal of the city’s ambulance service. The city decided to cut the service to save money.
The union pushed back claiming it was a violation of the contract with the city. Last month, an arbitration battle ended with a ruling in the city’s favor.
Now the city says the union isn’t complying with the ruling because the two sides still haven’t come to an agreement on removing the ambulances.
Two private ambulance companies say they’re ready to take over running the service for the whole city. Now there could be another court battle standing in the way of that.
