TAYLORVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — City leaders are trying to figure out how to make up for an almost $500,000 budget shortfall.
Monday night, the finance committee will meet to come up with solutions. The most recent financial audit shows the city has a deficit of $432,000 in the general fund.
Alderman Larry Budd suggested creating a hiring freeze and cutting back on equipment purchases. He hopes the committee will create motions to fix the budget.
If that happens, the council will vote on it at its next meeting October 1.
