CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA)– After a devastating fire, the members of Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church didn’t have a place to have service on Sunday.
That worry didn’t last long.
Soon after hearing about the fire, the staff at CU Church in Champaign reached out and lent a hand.
The church opened their doors to the congregation in need.
Pastor Keith Thomas of Mt. Olive was able to lead worship Sunday morning.
The CU Church pastor Jason Epperson says that they will continue to let Mt. Olive use their church for as long as they need.
Both men agree a building doesn’t make up a church, the people who worship there do.
Thomas says they are working on getting a different part of the church fixed.
Once it’s finished, they will be able to move back to their church.
