Choirs compete for concert performance

Local News

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — The Centennial High School choir is practicing for what could be the biggest performance of its career. It’s entering a contest to sing with the Grammy-nominated rock group Foreigner.

The band is performing at the State Farm in June. Foreigner says it would like to have a local choir sing with them on stage performing the classic I Want to Know What Love Is, so the band is holding a competition.

To enter, choirs have to submit videos performing a Foreigner song. It can be a snippet or full-length version. Choir members say they’d be excited to win. The winning group will perform June 23.

The public will vote on submissions and six with the most votes in the first round will move to the second round. Foreigner will donate $500 to the winning choir program. The submission deadline is Monday at midnight.
