DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — It will be up to voters whether the city changes its government or not.
A judge signed off on putting the question on November’s ballot. It will ask voters if they want to adopt a city manager form of government, rather than the current system of having a mayor.
Public meetings have been held to discuss what it means. A co-chair from Moving Danville Forward says it would not affect the alderpeople or wards in any way.
There were more than 700 signatures on the petition requesting the change. Supporters say it would be the best use of tax dollars and could help fix the city’s problems.
Opponents say the current system represents residents the best.
