Chessfest challenges contestants

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Kids put their chess skills to the test. Jefferson Middle School hosted Chessfest for kindergarteners through 8th graders.

Students learned the ins-and-outs of the classic board game and competed for prizes.

The coach says chess is a big game of strategy, but the most important rule was to have fun.

Champaign Unit #4 sponsored the free event.
