Centennial Choir Director goodbye

Local News

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — One of the area’s most respected music teachers is getting ready to retire. Champaign Centennial’s Marian Wyatt had one of her last events Friday as she had an end of the year luncheon with her group “Expressions.”

She’s been teaching for 34 years and 31 of those were in Champaign.

Wyatt says it’s been a labor of love, especially when it comes to making a difference in young peoples lives.

She says she still does a couple things to do before officially walking out the door. Her choir won a contest and will sing with Foreigner on June 23 at the State Farm Center.

She’s also hosting a choir renunion in town. It’s Saturday May 25 at 3:00 at the Centennial Auditorium. Over 250 of her former students are coming in from all across the country…
