LITCHFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — It’s the mother road of them all.
This weekend, the oldest continuously operating restaurant on Route 66 is celebrating.
The Ariston Cafe opened 95 years ago. It’s greeted travelers on their journeys from Chicago to Santa Monica, California, for almost a century.
Saturday, May 4, the vintage neon signs and window accents will shine brightly once again.
The public is welcome to the official relighting ceremony. The party starts at 7 pm and they’ll throw the switch between 8 – 8:15 pm.
