CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Hundreds of area children are abused or neglected every year.
One group wants help improving their lives. CASA of Vermilion and Edgar Counties says it’s short on volunteers. Right now, it has about 45, but it would like to get six more by the end of the year.
Volunteers speak on behalf of the children as they go through the court system. Officials say, right now, CASAs are in high demand.
Volunteers must be 21 or older and able to pass a background check. Training starts in about a month.
