VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Authorities are searching for who’s responsible for recent break-ins.
Wednesday, more than a dozen people called into police stations around the county reporting the crimes.
People say someone knocks first to see if anyone answers the door. If no one answers, the culprit makes a move and starts to break into the home.
No one has been hurt and police say the thief is stealing, but not taking much. Authorities want people to check and see who’s knocking before answering the door and stay vigilant.
So far, the crimes have happened in the afternoon, but police suggest seniors may not want to open their doors in the evening or late at night.
Police don’t have a motive or suspects yet, but they’re confident they’ll solve the case.
