DUQUOIN, Ill. (WCIA) — A Woodlawn woman was arrested by State Police for a fatal crash.
26-year old Caitlin Happach was taken into custody Tuesday. She’s charged with two counts of failure to report an accident and one count of reckless homicide. All three are felonies.
Authorities say January 5, Happach was driving on I-64, near Nashville when she passed another car at a high rate of speed. She reportedly merged back into the right lane and struck another car.
The second car veered off the roadway and crashed into a tree killing one person and seriously injuring another. Officials say Happach fled the scene.
Investigators determined she was the driver at the time of the crash. Happach posted bond and has been released from custody.
