DANVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — One person is dead after police responded to a domestic disturbance call early Tuesday.
It happened about 1:55 am, in the 600-block of Sherman. Police were called to a home with a report a man had been there and threatened someone with a firearm, but had left the residence.
A description of the subject went out to patrol officers who spotted a vehicle and person matching the description.
When officers tried to conduct a traffic stop, the driver was ordered to show his hands and exit the vehicle. Authorities say the man “had a firearm in his hand and ignored the officers’ orders at which point the officers fired.”
The 34-year old man was pronounced dead. His name has not yet been released. No one else was hurt. Illinois State Police is handling the investigation.
