URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — A Champaign man was sentenced to 8-years in federal prison for distributing and possessing child pornography.

34-year old Jaime Breckenridge is also ordered to pay $3,000 restitution to the victim.

In March, Breckenridge pleaded guilty to both counts in the indictment which was returned by a grand jury in September 2017. Breckenridge was arrested in August 2017, in Marion, after being charged in a federal criminal complaint for the same offenses.

The charges are the result of an investigation by the FBI and the case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative combating the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation.

It was launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.
