Archery students hit the bullseye in tournament

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The results are in and Champaign’s Central High School won first place in the National Archery in the Schools (NASP) Illinois State Tournament. It took place this weekend at the Illinois State Fairgrounds.

Central Team #1 won the High School Division title with a score of 3,385 while Champaign Centennial High School Team #1 finished second with 3,357 and Armstrong-Potomac finished third with 3,355.

Champaign’s Jefferson Middle School Team #1 claimed the title with 3,398. The top individual performance went to Maria Heller of Centennial with 294. The top male individual score went to Henry Spinelle of Jefferson with 293.

Nearly 1,000 students took part. Top finishers qualified for the NASP U.S. Eastern Nationals taking place in Louisville, Ken., May 9 – 11.
