DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A job, medical attention, even a meal. Friday, the Salvation Army transformed into a one-stop-shop for veterans’ needs.
The event attracted dozens of former servicemen and women. The VA, SIU and Ameren were on hand to help with every need from mental health evaluations to housing.
They say they came out because veterans have talent and grit others may lack. The event is held annually, around Veterans Day.
Veterans who visited each station were given warm clothes for the winter.
