VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — A Danville man faces 6 – 30 years in prison after being found guilty of bribery.
Authorities say Keyvell Lewis, tried to persuade a victim and her mother from testifying against him.
In December 2017, Lewis was charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual assault against the juvenile female victim.
While those charges were pending, officials say Lewis spoke to the victim’s mother and the victim, suggesting the women could flee the area, appear in court to say she lied and Lewis hadn’t committed the offenses or be willing to accept an $8,000 shopping trip.
Bribery is a class 2 felony, but Lewis faces mandatory class X sentencing because of his prior criminal history.
He’s been convicted of crimes in Cook County starting in 1996 for robbery, 2000 and 2002 for forgery and 2005 for armed robbery.
His sentencing is scheduled for August 22.
