CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Mail littered the highway Tuesday afternoon after an accident. It happened on I-57, southbound, near the Curtis exit.

The mail truck was pulled off on the side of the road with a large gash in it. Mail was all over the highway and traffic was backed up for miles. A few feet from the truck was a car which was also involved in the accident.

The Champaign postmaster says people in Central Illinois shouldn’t worry and they’ll still get their mail. The truck was heading to Memphis from Chicago.

All the mail was picked up and transferred to a different truck. It’s back on its way to Tennessee.
