65 lbs of pot found in traffic stop

EFFINGHAM COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Three men were arrested and face drug charges after a traffic stop.

Authorities pulled over a vehicle after seeing it cross the outside fog line and center line of an I-70 passing lane, to check the condition of the driver.

The deputy asked for consent to search the vehicle. Officials found 50 foil-lined and vacuum-sealed bags of cannabis; total weight 65 lbs.

Reyes Castellanos, 44, of Farmersville, CA, Jose Barajas, 22, and Christian Rivas-Garcia, 26, both of Pihuamo Jal, Mexico, face charges of possession of cannabis more than 5,000 grams, possession of cannabis with intent ot deliver more than 5,000 grams and cannabis trafficking. Barajas is also charged with possession of a controlled substance cocaine.

The stop happened about 3 am, Wednesday, on I-70, near I-57, just south of Effingham.
