VERMILION COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — An area man was sentenced to 20-years in prison after being found guilty of bribery.

In December, Keyvell Lewis was charged with multiple counts of criminal sexual assault to a juvenile female. In July, he was found guilty of bribery.

Authorities say, while the criminal sexual assault charges were pending, Lewis spoke with the victim and her mother suggesting he could take her on a shopping trip with $8,000 if she dropped the charges. In another conversation with the mother, he suggested they could leave the area or come to court and say she lied.

Lewis was sentenced to 20-years in prison and three years mandatory supervised release. He faced mandatory class X sentencing due to his prior criminal history.

In Cook County, he was convicted of armed robbery in 2005, forgery in 2002 and 2000, and robbery in 1996.
