Lake Jacksonville will not open for camping

JACKSONVILLE, Ill. (WCIA) — Due to COVID-19 outbreak, Lake Jacksonville will not be opening for 2020 camping season April 1st.

Fishing is still allowed but no camping.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (NEXSTAR) -- In a deviation from CDC guidelines, the Pritzker administration is preparing to prioritize prison inmates in the second round of Coronavirus vaccinations, according to an updated distribution plan published by the Illinois Department of Public Health.

The state's first doses of Coronavirus vaccines went to health care workers on the front lines, and to the sick and elderly living in long-term care facilities who faced the highest risk of death in outbreaks.

Champaign County celebrates Dr. Martin Luther King

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA)--On Sunday, Champaign County hosted it's 20th Dr. Martin Luther King Celebration. The annual event was held virtually this year.

This year's celebration was centered around taking a stand for what's right, regardless of politics or popularity. The keynote speaker was Rev. Dr. William Barber. He delivered a sermon that drew parallels to three distinct periods of American history.

C-U at Home prepares for fundraiser event during pandemic

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) -- For the last ten years, the beginning of February in downtown Champaign has looked the same.

"One Winter Night is a very unique event in the sense that it's a homelessness simulation, and we understand it is truly a simulation and what our friends on the street deal with on a nightly basis is very, very difficult if they had to be on the street," says C-U at Home Executive Director Rob Dalhaus.
