(UPDATED AT 4:36 P.M.) IROQUOIS COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Illinois State Police said a motorcyclist was taken to the hospital after a serious crash on Monday afternoon.
In a news release, troopers said that around 1:45 p.m., the motorcyclist was traveling southbound on Route 45 near Del Ray when they tried to miss two deer crossing the road. The motorcycle hit one of the deer, which caused the driver to lose control of the bike.
The motorcyclist was ejected from the motorcycle. They were taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Troopers said a second crash happened as a result of the first one. They stated that as the motorcycle slid to a stop in the northbound lane, it hit a northbound truck. The truck driver lost control of the vehicle and it went into a ditch. The driver was not hurt.
