UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS — Student sports fans at the UI are kicking off their service challenge with a blood drive. A couple dozen students donated blood at the ARC Tuesday.
They’re competing against other Big Ten student sections to make a positive impact in the community. Students say they’re excited to get involved.
“Obviously we’re a big athletics school, so we need to be dedicated toward athletics, but also try and include as much philanthropy as we can and go out and volunteer and help people,” said freshman Colton King. “It’s definitely a big part of what the University of Illinois is.”
The Illini Pride is the group behind this effort. They’re the force behind Block I and Orange Krush. Organizers are planning more activities through the year, like a book drive and pop top collection.
