ILLINOIS — More teachers will now be able to take learning outside the classroom.

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources gave nearly $100,000 in biodiversity grants to schools.

It will give more than 8,000 students the chance to visit state parks and other natural sites.

It will help students learn more about biodiversity through firsthand experience.

The grants were provided through private donations. No state funds were used.
