SPRINGFIELD — A Decatur woman was found guilty of a Class 4 felony for theft of government property by deception.

45-year old Yolanda Plato was a personal assistant for the Illinois Department of Human Services. Authorities say she also worked for Help at Home Services; a private company helping seniors receive funding from the Illinois Department of Aging.

An investigation by the Illinois State Police Medicaid Fraud Control Bureau (MFCB) found Plato billed for more than 335 overlapping hours to both companies between May 2013 – July 2014. It resulted in a total of $3,889.36 in fraudulent over-payments by the state.

Plato received 24 months probation, 30-hours community service and must pay restitution of the full amount of fraud she’s charged with.
