Governor honors lost lives with COVID Memorial

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (NEXSTAR) — It’s been one year since the first person died of COVID in Illinois.

The governor is honoring the loss of that life — along with the many others lost during the pandemic — with this memorial at the governor’s mansion in Springfield.

The memorial features a flag for each of the state’s counties, and it honors the over 20-thusand people who lost their lives.
