CHAMPAIGN — An area 4th grader went door-to-door and collected more than $2,000 for the American Heart Association.
She raised it through the Jump Rope for Heart event. She raised half the school’s donations and was top fundraiser last year too.
Kristina Maloney collected donations for two weeks. Holy Cross Elementary has been participating in the fundraising/physical activity program based on being heart healthy.
The kids jump rope in PE class, then raise money for the AHA. Maloney says she hopes her donations make a difference.
Last year, she raised nearly $2,000. She says she just went door-to-door for two weeks collecting donations.
Her final total this year was more than $2,300. The money is used for research.
