Firefighters respond to fire at Lake Land College

MATTOON, Ill. (WCIA) — Fire officials said no one was hurt after the roof of a Lake Land College building caught fire Tuesday afternoon.

They said it was on the roof of Neal Hall near the penthouse. Charleston, Mattoon, Lincoln and Wabash firefighters responded to the scene. Officials said there was a little bit of smoke damage on the inside of the building.

College officials said they were having the roof of the building replaced when the fire broke out. No students or staff members were on campus when it happened because of COVID-19 restrictions. Contractors working on the project were able to escape from the building.
