Fire in substation knocks out power

ARTHUR, Ill. (WCIA) — Police say a fire in an electrical substation has caused power outages.

Officers say Ameren is currently on scene at the substation on East Progress Street

Ameren says the outage happened around 10:40 a.m. Thursday.

There was a small fire at the Arthur Substation that was caused by a blown transformer.

Around 400 customers in and around the village lost power.

All power was restored at 2 p.m.

Ameren has updated power restoration to approximately 4:30 p.m. The community building will be open and available for a warming center until power has been restored. The kitchen is available for use as well!
