SPRINGFIELD — The history of a nearly 200-year old house will live on for years to come. The Strawbridge-Shepherd Farm is one of twelve new sites added to the National Register of Historic Places.
The house was built about 1845. It’s located on the UIS campus. The historic designation gives students a chance to hear stories about the home.
Eleven other new historic sites are scattered throughout the state. They include a residential neighborhood, an old strip mall and Civil War graffiti.
