ILLINOIS — The fight for fair maps is not over. Those behind the Independent Map Amendment are asking the State Supreme Court to reconsider its ruling.
The proposed amendment would have required an independent commission to redraw district lines. Last week though, the high court struck it down.
Leaders say the justices in the majority were wrong and inconsistent in their reasoning.
Former Governor Pat Quinn pitched a plan this week and says the Supreme Court should appoint an 11-member commission to redraw political boundaries.
