EffingHAM JAM BBQ festival is July 27 and 28 in downtown Effingham.
It is a Kansas City BBQ Society State Championship Cookoff and Hometown Throwdown amateur competition.
The event draws professional teams from all over the Midwest and Illinois.
The event also includes musical entertainment, a pancake breakfast, CrossFit event, Kids activities including a Power Wheels demo derby and obstacle course, Dilly Bar Eating contest, and a local favorite – Schottman’s Sweet Corn that is cooked with power from an old fashioned steam engine.
The event has been officially endorsed by the Illinois Bicentennial.
