CHAMPAIGN COUNTY — Workers at the Regional Office of Education for Champaign and Ford counties are moving. Their new building will be in Champaign, near Olympian Drive. They’ve been in the Myra Thompson building since 1979, but the Rantoul School District stopped using it because renovations would be too expensive. That’s why they needed to find a new space.
Regional superintendent Jane Quinlan says they tried to find somewhere that was still convenient for people who come from both counties. The building is being fixed up now. The CU Schools Foundation used to be in that building, but they only used about a quarter of it. Quinlan says they plan to use the entire building, so they have to accommodate for that. They plan to move in by early March. About 12 people work there. Nothing will change about their duties, aside from their location.
