AFGHANISTAN (WCIA) — A soldier who runs the Chicago Marathon every year wasn’t able to make it this time. So he decided to run his own while on deployment.
James Chandler of Urbana is stationed in Afghanistan. The 35-year-old army veteran hasn’t missed a Chicago Marathon since he started running it in 2014. The same day as the marathon in the Windy City, Chandler ran 26.2 miles through Afghanistan.
He finished with a time of 4:10:07. Not bad for being 7,500 feet above sea level.
