CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Champaign-Urbana Public Health District officials are encouraging those who attended Lollapalooza in Chicago this past weekend to get tested for COVID-19.
In a Facebook post, officials said those who attended the festival should get tested Wednesday, Thursday or Friday.
“This will help us shut down any local outbreaks before they get started,” they said in the post.
They say the event brought people from all over the country and there’s no way to know everyone’s status.
“Once we have a large outbreak, it spreads to other people and within the community. Friends to other friends, or coworkers to other coworkers very easily. And 4 or 5 cases can turn into 50 or 100 cases very fast,” Awais Vaid, with CUPHD, said.
You can find more testing sites, here.
