City gets ready for hotel

News
PAXTON – City officials are welcoming those from outside the community.

Last month the city broke ground on an upcoming hotel on the west side of town. The mayor says work on the Cobblestone Inn and Suites will start on January 16. The hotel will include 41 rooms and an indoor pool. They mayor says it’s something the city has wanted to open for more than a year.

“We have a lot of traffic with interstate 57 here next to us and Route 9 here and Route 45 over in Paxton. We’re very close to Champaign Urbana, we’re not too far away from Bloomington normal. So I think we can get a lot of people stopping on 57 to come here and Paxton, maybe when they’re going to U of I events. So we are hoping to capture on that,” says Bill Ingold, Paxton’s mayor.

Cobblestone caters to towns with less than 5,000 people. They also have a hotel in Altamont.
