Escaped lizard makes home in lake

Champaign County

FISHER, Ill. (WCIA) — An escaped lizard has apparently found a home in Heritage Lake.

The Department of Natural Resources is asking people to leave it there. The 3-foot-long Nile Monitor Lizard was a pet and escaped someone’s house a week ago. IDNR said it should not bite unless it is threatened.

If it is sunbathing, you are advised to not approach it. If you are fishing and catch it, you are asked to call police.
