SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WCIA) — The newly remodeled and restored governor’s mansion is going to need some knowledgeable people to guide tours.

Two informational sessions are scheduled for next month for those interested in leading free, guided tours which are offered daily, between 1 – 4 pm.

Guides greet guests and share the history of the residence. It’s the third oldest continuously occupied governor’s mansion in the U.S. having been built between 1853 – 1855. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.

The complete renovation was funded entirely through private donations. Registration is required.

Governor’s Mansion Volunteer Information Sessions
Saturday, September 1 & 8, 10 am
Registration: (217) 782 – 6450
