ILLINOIS (WCIA) — A Danville woman just got a small victory after a state Supreme Court ruling.

Barbara Monson sued the city of Danville several years ago after she was hurt walking on the sidewalk. The court ruled unanimously in her favor: 7-0.

It’s all after getting a negative ruling from the trial court and in the 4th District Appellate court. The case goes back several years.

Monson was walking on the sidewalk downtown, in 2012, when she tripped over a raised part covered in water. She needed nine stitches to her chin plus, she chipped two teeth and needed a crown fixed.

The case has been stuck in a lengthy court process since then, but not anymore. It’s not over yet though.

Now, the case goes back to the trial court. Then, Spiros Law is going to have to start moving the case forward to prepare for a trial. No one from the city could be reached for comment.
