ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Just a few days after an investigation revealed Legionnaires’ disease broke out in a Quincy veterans’ home, lawmakers are calling for answers.

State Senator Tom Cullerton (D) says he plans to call for a public hearing to dig deeper into the series of deaths.

13 people died of the disease during a three-year span. Some blame Governor Bruce Rauner’s administration for not stopping the spread of the disease.

Rauner says he called the CDC into Quincy one month after the first case was reported.

The state has spent millions of dollars working to repair the facility. Some say it needs to be torn down.
